The list is not the problem. The timing is.
You write "batteries" down on Tuesday. On Saturday you walk past three shops that sell batteries with your phone in your pocket and the list unopened. You get home, and there it is.
A reminder that fires at 9am is no use for an errand that happens wherever you happen to be. A reminder that fires when you arrive at the shop is the whole point.
How it works
1. Add what you need, when you think of it
Type an item, or search products and pick from photos with names and prices attached. Add a note if it matters — size, brand, the specific one that is not the cheap one.
2. Find where to buy it
Tap "find where to buy" and Todofun searches nearby stores that sell it. Filter by closest, cheapest, or open now, narrow by rating, distance, area or type, and open any result straight into Google Maps.
3. Switch on the arrival reminder
Pick a store and tap "remind here". From then on, walking into that shop is what triggers the reminder. You can pin several stores to the same item — if any of the three supermarkets on your route sells it, whichever one you enter first is the one that nudges you.
Or skip the specific shop entirely. You can set a reminder against a type of store — any grocery store, any pharmacy — and it fires wherever you pass one. Useful for the things you will buy anywhere rather than the things you will only buy in one place.
4. Tick things off as you walk the aisles
Items check off as you go, and "clear done" wipes the finished ones when you are back at the car. What is left is what you still need.
How the location part is handled
Arrival reminders need background location, and they work with the app closed. Your location is used on your device to decide whether to fire the reminder — it is not sent anywhere and is not shared with anyone. You can turn any individual reminder off without turning the feature off.
The same trick works for everything else
Location reminders are not limited to shopping. Pin a task to the gym, the pharmacy, the post office, or the office and it arrives when you do. Three location reminders are free across your personal tasks and lists; Premium makes them unlimited.
What it costs
Todofun is free to download, with unlimited personal tasks and lists and three location reminders on the free plan.
The shopping cart — product search, store finder and per-store arrival reminders — is part of Premium+, which also includes the AI assistant and co-organisers for your groups. Premium, the tier below, removes the location-reminder cap and adds habits, groups and competitions.
Common questions
Does the reminder work if the app is closed?
Yes. Arrival reminders fire in the background. Your location is used on your device to trigger the reminder and is never shared with anyone.
Is my shopping list shared with my group?
No. The shopping cart is personal and lives on your phone. If you want the household to see something, add it to your group as a shared task instead.
How many location reminders do I get for free?
Three across your personal tasks and lists. Premium makes them unlimited. The shopping cart itself is part of Premium+.
Can I set a reminder for a type of shop rather than one address?
Yes. As well as pinning specific stores, you can set a reminder against a store type — any grocery store or any pharmacy — so it fires wherever you happen to pass one.
Where do the store results come from?
Nearby store search returns real places you can filter by closest, cheapest or open now, and open directly in Google Maps. Product results come from online retailers, and the images and names belong to those merchants.
