Terms & Conditions

Please read these Terms carefully before using Todofun. By downloading or using the app you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Who We Are

Todofun is a mobile task management app developed and operated by pfengstudio ("we", "us", or "our"). The app is published on the Apple App Store (bundle ID: com.pfengstudio.todofun) and on Google Play (package name: com.pfengstudio.todofun). These Terms apply to both.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Todofun. By creating an account you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

Public group features are currently switched off in the released app (see Section 9), so the released app does not ask for your date of birth. Where those features do apply — to the small number of public groups that already existed when they were switched off — we ask for your date of birth once and you must answer honestly. If you indicate you are under 13, public groups, Discover, and the public feed are unavailable to you; the rest of the app continues to work. If you are 13–17, you can take part in community features under stricter content moderation, and any proof photos you submit are shown only to the group organiser rather than publicly.

3. Your Account

You may sign up using an email address, Google, or Apple account. You can also continue as a guest without an account, in which case your data stays on your device and is not synced or recoverable — creating an account is what makes it portable. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Edit Profile → Delete Account. Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone.

4. Free and Premium Features

Todofun offers a free tier and two paid subscription tiers. Most paid features are not locked outright — the free tier includes a limited allowance so you can try them before deciding to subscribe.

Free (no subscription required):

  • Unlimited personal tasks with time-based reminders, categories, and repeating schedules.
  • Personal lists (checklists) to organise your own items.
  • Group tasks, including sub-tasks — collaborate on shared tasks with other members.
  • Calendar view, calendar sync, and home screen widgets.
  • Your group's shared Calendar tab — see everything the group has on in a week, fortnight, or month, add tasks straight into a day, copy a period forward, and add a period to your phone's calendar. (Creating competitions, activities, or challenges from it needs Premium, the same as anywhere else.)
  • Your tree, XP, levels, achievements, and period recaps.
  • Up to 1 active habit, 1 group you create holding up to 10 members (you can join any number of other people's groups, with no member limit of your own), and 3 active location reminders.

Todofun Premium unlocks everything in Free without those limits, plus:

  • Unlimited habits — daily and weekly habits with their own reminders and streak tracking.
  • Unlimited groups you create, with no cap on how many members each one holds.
  • Unlimited location reminders — get notified when you arrive at a location.
  • Competitions, Challenges & Activities — competitive tasks, activities, and challenges with leaderboards.
  • Custom group banners — design a banner for each group you organise.

Todofun Premium Plus unlocks everything in Premium, plus:

  • Shopping Cart — shared grocery and shopping lists organised by store, accessible to group members, including product and nearby-store search.
  • AI Assistant — AI-powered task planning and organisation.
  • Co-organisers — promote another member of your group to organiser.

Free-tier allowances are subject to change as we tune the product. Feature availability may also change over time as we continue to develop the app. We will give reasonable notice before removing a feature that is part of your active subscription tier.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

Tiers and billing. Todofun Premium and Todofun Premium Plus are separate monthly auto-renewing subscriptions. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account at the time of purchase confirmation. The price for each tier is displayed on the paywall screen before you subscribe.

Free trials. A plan may be offered with a free trial. Where one applies, the paywall shows its length and the price that follows before you subscribe. Eligibility is decided by Apple or Google, not by us, and is usually limited to people who have not had a trial of that plan before — so a trial you have already used will not be offered again. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts automatically into a paid subscription at the price shown, and cancelling during the trial ends it without a charge.

Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically each month unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. We cannot issue refunds for partial billing periods.

Promotional codes and offers. We sometimes grant paid access through promotional codes or in-app offers, on the terms set out in Section 15. Access granted this way is a gift, not a purchase, and can be withdrawn if it was obtained by abuse.

Cancellation. Cancel at any time through your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep access to your tier's features until the end of your paid period.

Restore Purchases. If you reinstall the app or switch devices, use the "Restore Purchases" option on the paywall screen to recover your active subscription.

Refunds. All purchases are subject to the refund policies of Apple or Google. We do not process refunds directly.

Price changes. We may change subscription prices. If the price for your current tier increases, we will notify you in advance. Continued use after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use Todofun for any unlawful purpose or in violation of anyone's rights.
  • Harass, threaten, or intimidate other users through group tasks, competitive features, comments, reactions, or invite messages.
  • Post sexual, violent, hateful, discriminatory, or otherwise objectionable content, or content that sexualises or endangers a minor.
  • Post content you do not have the rights to, or photos of other people who have not agreed to appear.
  • Use public groups, activities, or challenges to advertise, solicit, or share contact details for off-platform contact.
  • Encourage or organise activities or challenges that are dangerous, illegal, or likely to cause injury.
  • Manipulate votes, scores, streaks, or leaderboards, including by submitting false proof.
  • Evade a block, suspension, or content removal, including by creating a new account.
  • Use group invite links to spam users who have not consented to receiving them.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service or underlying infrastructure.
  • Create accounts by automated means or access the service using automated scripts or bots.
  • Tamper with, spoof, or work around the checks that confirm the app is a genuine, unmodified build — including by running a modified client against our servers.
  • Abuse promotional codes or the referral program, including by guessing codes, redeeming through additional accounts, or sharing a code outside the campaign it was issued for.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

7. User Content

You own the content you create in Todofun — your task titles, group names, habits, activities, challenges, posts, comments, photos, and other data. By using the app, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process, and display your content for the purpose of providing the service. For content you choose to publish in a public group, that licence extends to displaying it to other Todofun users through Discover and the public feed, for as long as you keep it posted.

You are solely responsible for the content you create and share, and you confirm you have the rights to post it. Do not include sensitive personal data (such as passwords, financial information, or health records) in task titles or descriptions, and do not put anything in a public group that you would not want a stranger to see.

Uploaded photos are automatically re-encoded before leaving your device, which removes embedded metadata such as GPS coordinates. This is a safety measure, not a guarantee — check what is actually visible in the frame before you post.

You can delete your content at any time from within the app. Deleting content removes it going forward; copies other members already saw or saved are outside our control.

8. Groups and Competitive Features

Every account can create one group for free, holding up to 10 members; creating more groups, or growing one past that cap, requires a Premium subscription. The member cap follows the tier of the organiser who owns the group, not the tier of whoever is joining, and you can join any number of other people's groups regardless of your own tier. Group organisers invite members via a share link, an email invite, or a QR code, and can promote another member to co-organiser with a Premium Plus subscription. As an organiser, you are responsible for managing membership and ensuring your group is used appropriately.

Competitive tasks are designed as friendly challenges between consenting participants. Do not use competitive features to pressure, demean, or harass other participants.

9. Public Groups and Community Content

Currently unavailable. Public groups and the Discover screen are switched off in the released app. Every group you create is private and invite-only, and Discover cannot be opened. This section describes how those features work, and continues to apply to the small number of public groups that already existed when they were switched off. We will update these Terms before turning them back on.

Groups can be private (invite-only, visible to members) or public (findable and joinable by any Todofun user through Discover). Groups you create are private unless you choose to make them public, and the app tells you which you are choosing.

Content you publish in a public group — including the group itself, activities, challenges, entries, proof photos, comments, reactions, your display name, and your profile photo — is visible to people you have not met. Post accordingly.

Before your first use of public group features you must accept our Community Guidelines, shown in the app. In summary: be respectful; no hate speech, slurs, or discrimination; no sexual, violent, or otherwise explicit content; no harassment, bullying, or threats; and report anything that breaks these rules. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour, and users who post it are removed.

Todofun does not endorse, verify, or take responsibility for content posted by other users. You take part in public groups at your own risk.

10. Content Moderation, Reporting, and Blocking

Automated screening. Text and images submitted to shared and public content are screened automatically before publication. Content that fails a check is rejected and you will be asked to edit it. Screening is imperfect in both directions — it may reject acceptable content or miss something objectionable.

Reporting. Every post, comment, entry, and user can be reported from within the app. Reports are confidential. We review reports and act on violating content within 24 hours, which may include removing the content and suspending or terminating the account responsible.

Blocking. You can block any user from their content. Blocking hides their content from you and prevents them from interacting with you.

We may remove content or restrict an account at our discretion where we believe these Terms or the Community Guidelines have been broken. Deliberately abusing the reporting system is itself a violation.

11. Habits, Activities, and Challenges

Habits let you track recurring routines with their own reminders and streak counts. Streaks are a motivational feature only and carry no value.

Activities are things you organise for a group to take part in. If you create one, you are responsible for the accuracy of the rules, requirements, and restrictions you describe, including any age or safety limits.

Challenges can be scored by fastest time, highest score, reaching a target, daily check-in streaks, or peer votes. Some challenges ask for proof — a photo, a note, or a location check-in — which is shared with the other participants (or, for users aged 13–17, with the group organiser only). Providing false proof, or manipulating scores or votes, may result in removal from the challenge or from Todofun.

Safety. Activities and challenges are user-created. Todofun does not review, endorse, or supervise them, and is not responsible for what happens when you take part. Use your own judgement about whether something is safe and appropriate for you, take part at your own risk, and do not organise anything dangerous or illegal. Nothing in Todofun is medical, fitness, or professional advice — consult a qualified professional before starting any physically demanding activity.

Prizes. Todofun does not award prizes. Rankings, medals, streaks, and votes have no cash value. Any prize offered by an organiser is entirely between that organiser and the participants, and Todofun is not a party to it.

12. Shopping Cart

The Shopping Cart feature (Todofun Premium Plus) allows you to create personal and shared shopping lists organised by shop. Items and shops you add to a shared cart are visible to the other members of the linked group, including which of you ticked something off, and you are responsible for the content you add.

Search results are not our information. Product listings, shop names, addresses, opening hours, and any prices come from third-party search and mapping providers. They can be wrong, out of date, or missing, and nothing shown in the cart is an offer to sell you anything. Check before you rely on it.

Arrival reminders. You can ask to be reminded when you reach a shop. This is your own decision on your own device — pinning a shop to a shared cart does not switch a reminder on for anybody else — and it needs background location permission, which you can withdraw at any time. Arrival reminders are delivered on a best-effort basis and depend on your device, its permissions, and its power settings.

13. AI Assistant

The AI Assistant (Todofun Premium Plus) uses artificial intelligence to help you plan and organise tasks. By using this feature, you consent to your messages, and enough of your own data to answer them — your upcoming tasks, lists, habits, group names and group tasks, your time zone and language — being sent to our AI provider to generate suggestions. Depending on your request, the assistant may also perform a web search, look up sports fixtures, or look up nearby places in order to answer.

Confirming and auto-applying. By default the assistant proposes changes and you press the button that makes them. You can switch on auto-apply, in which case straightforward changes to your own tasks, lists, and habits are made as soon as they are suggested; each is shown to you with an Undo. Turning auto-apply on is your decision and you remain responsible for the result. Suggestions built from a web search are never applied automatically.

Bookings and outside links. When you ask about booking something, the assistant may suggest venues, stays, or travel and link you to third-party websites or maps. We do not take bookings, hold reservations, handle payments, or check availability or prices, and we are not a party to anything you arrange on another company's site — their terms apply there, not ours.

AI-generated content is provided for convenience only. It may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date, including any prices, opening hours, store locations, or facts it retrieves from the web. You remain responsible for reviewing and acting on any AI suggestions, and you should verify anything that matters before relying on it.

Do not send the assistant sensitive personal information. We apply fair-use limits to AI requests to keep the feature available to everyone, and may suspend access for abusive or automated use.

14. Calendar Sync

Todofun can sync your tasks and lists to your device's native calendar (iCloud Calendar on iOS, Google Calendar on Android). This feature requires calendar read/write permission. Enabling calendar sync allows Todofun to create, update, and delete calendar events that correspond to your tasks. Changes made to these events directly in your calendar app may be reflected back in Todofun. You can disable calendar sync at any time from your Profile settings; doing so will not delete events already synced to your calendar.

Adding a group's calendar period to your phone is a separate, one-way export. Those events are written to their own "Todofun Groups" calendar and are a snapshot of the group at the moment you exported it — editing or deleting them in your calendar app changes nothing in Todofun, and later changes made by the organiser will not appear in them.

15. Referral Program and Promotional Codes

Todofun offers a referral program through which you can invite new users and earn free months of premium access. Each account is assigned a unique referral code. When a new user signs up using your referral link or code and completes a qualifying action, both you and the new user may receive a reward as described in the app.

We also run promotional codes, which grant a period of Premium or Premium+ access. A code can be redeemed once per account, must be redeemed while its campaign is running, and may carry further conditions — for example being limited to new accounts. Redemption can legitimately be refused, and the app tells you why. Promotional access ends when its period expires and does not renew; it is not a subscription, and cancelling or subscribing separately is unaffected by it.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the referral program or any promotional campaign at any time. Referral and promotional rewards have no cash value and cannot be sold, transferred, or combined with other offers unless we say so. Abuse of either (e.g., creating fake accounts, or redeeming a code through additional accounts) may result in account suspension and forfeiture of all rewards.

16. Location and Device Permissions

Location Reminders require background location access. By enabling this feature, you consent to Todofun monitoring geofences on your device to trigger local notifications. Shop arrival reminders in the Shopping Cart (Section 12) use the same permission in the same way. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings; doing so will disable every location-based reminder.

Calendar Sync requires calendar read and write access on your device. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings; doing so will disable calendar sync.

Push notifications require notification permission. You can revoke this permission in device settings at any time.

Location check-ins, nearby store search, and regional Discover use your approximate location at the moment you use them. These are one-off lookups, not continuous tracking.

Attaching or capturing photos requires camera and/or photo library permission. Saving an image the app generates — a recap card, an achievement, or a group calendar period — requires permission to add to your photo library. You can revoke either in device settings; doing so will prevent you from adding or saving images but will not affect anything else.

Device integrity. Before certain costly requests — the AI Assistant, product and place search, and content moderation — the app may ask the operating system to confirm that it is a genuine, unmodified copy of Todofun. On Android this uses Google's Play Integrity service. The check is about the app and the device, not about you. We may refuse those requests from a build that cannot be verified.

We do not use any of these permissions for any purpose beyond delivering the features described in the app.

17. Intellectual Property

All rights in the Todofun app, including its design, code, trademarks, and brand assets, belong to us. Nothing in these Terms grants you a right to use our intellectual property for any purpose other than using the app as intended.

18. Disclaimers

Todofun is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of viruses or other harmful components. Task reminders are delivered on a best-effort basis; do not rely solely on Todofun for time-critical obligations. AI-generated suggestions are provided for convenience only and are not guaranteed to be accurate or complete.

Content in public groups is created by other users, not by us. We do not endorse it, and while we screen content and act on reports, we cannot guarantee that everything you encounter will be accurate, lawful, or inoffensive. Activities and challenges are organised by users and are undertaken entirely at your own risk; we do not supervise them and are not responsible for any injury, loss, or dispute arising from taking part.

19. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data or missed deadlines, arising from your use of or inability to use Todofun. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the app will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

20. Termination

You may stop using Todofun and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or the Community Guidelines, with or without notice, and we may do so immediately and permanently in the case of objectionable content or abuse of other users. Upon termination, your right to use the app ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 7, 17, 18, 19, and 21) will remain in effect.

21. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which we operate. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Todofun shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless applicable consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.

22. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we will notify you within the app. Continued use of Todofun after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
