How families use it
One private group for the household
Create a group and bring people in with a share link, an email invite, or a QR code. It is private and invite-only — there is no public feed, no discovery, and nobody outside the family can find it. A free group holds up to 10 people.
Recurring chores that maintain themselves
Set the bins, the laundry, the weekly shop and the school-run prep on daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly repeats. They appear on the group calendar automatically. The colour key on the calendar and on Today makes it obvious at a glance what is a habit, what is a shared chore and what is a challenge.
Reminders that fire where the task happens
Time reminders cover the scheduled things. Location reminders cover the rest — pin "pick up the prescription" to the pharmacy and the nudge arrives when you are actually there. It works while the app is closed, and your location is used on your device to fire the reminder; it is never shared with anyone. Three are free, Premium makes them unlimited.
Two adults, one group. Premium+ adds co-organisers, so a second parent can manage the group, shared tasks and members. Without it, group admin routes through whoever created it — which reproduces exactly the problem you were trying to solve.
Getting teenagers to actually engage
Finishing a task earns XP and grows a cherry blossom tree, from a seed up to a tree in full bloom. Growth is permanent, so a missed week costs nothing. There are streaks, achievement badges, and a shareable recap of the year.
Premium adds the competitive layer: challenges scored on fastest time, highest score, hitting a target, a daily check-in streak, or a peer vote — plus leaderboards and photo proof when someone claims they did something the rest of the house cannot see.
A note on younger children. Todofun is designed for adults and teenagers sharing a household. Joining a group requires an account, so it is not built to be a chore chart a young child runs on their own device. Families with younger kids generally track those chores on a parent's account.
